Mike Harland

Mike Harland has dedicated much of his life to worship leadership, serving in various roles at churches of all sizes and gaining experience across numerous worship ministries. A published author and two-time Dove Award-winning songwriter, he has written songs like “It’s Still the Cross” and “Bow the Knee,” and has worked with notable artists. After earning degrees from Delta State University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, he held positions at several churches before becoming the Director of Worship at Lifeway Christian Resources, where he led significant projects like the new Baptist Hymnal. He received a Doctor of Divinity from Blue Mountain Christian University in 2022 and served as Associate Pastor of Worship at First Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi, until August 2023. In addition to his songwriting, he has authored three books focused on healthy worship ministry. Mike and his wife, Teresa, have three grown children and six grandchildren, and he welcomes conversations about worship ministry through the Worship Essentials Network.
