2023 Untrained Volunteer Group Registration
Arkansas Tornado Response
Thank you for praying for Arkansas Baptist Disaster Relief chainsaw and feeding units that are serving our fellow Arkansans. Because of our relationships with other states, teams are also here from the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, Texas Baptist Men, and the Oklahoma Baptist Convention.
Please see below about physical needs and volunteer needs.
1. Physical needs – We do not need any donations for physical needs for people.
We do need donations of pre-mixed, 2-cycle fuel for chainsaws. We do need chainsaw bar oil.
One can drop these items off at any of these locations:
*Immanuel Baptist Church City Center, 315 North Shackleford Road, Little Rock
*Levy Baptist Church, 3501 Pike Avenue, North Little Rock
*Second Baptist Church, 1117 North James Street, Jacksonville
*Wynne Baptist Church, 1200 East Bridges Avenue
-
Volunteers – we are putting together a mechanism to use untrained volunteers. The highest need is for groups to come behind Disaster Relief chain-saw teams for yard clean up. We are also determining needs of local churches and will help make those connections.
a) Your group could be assigned to a Disaster Relief team from Arkansas or another state, and each state has its protocol for using untrained volunteers. This protocol will include a form to fill out with a volunteer’s information, liability forms, safety briefing, etc. Disaster Relief teams only accept volunteers ages 18+.
b) Or, your church may be connected with a local church. We’ll connect you with a specific person who will have a project for you to complete. These projects are tornado-related local church projects apart from Disaster Relief projects. You'll treat this like a mission trip from your church and will be responsible for liability coverage, etc. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or have proper permissions like any mission trip you would take.
PLEASE: Only the group leader should fill out the online form below on behalf of your entire group. (Church group, BCM group, Sunday School class, etc.) All participants need to bring gloves, hat, sunscreen. You’ll be contacted when we have a job available. Thank you. Questions?
